FAQ

What is Library4all?

Library4all is a non-profit organization committed to the support of lifelong learning and education accessible to all.

What is Bookwave?

Bookwave is an original nonprofit book drive that is held at the Benaki Museum once a year in partnership with the Benaki Museum and with the support of Project Cicero in New York. It has the kind support of the Bodossaki Foundation. Its aim is to collect books for the libraries of kindergartens and primary schools across the country. The driving force behind this initiative is Library4all, an NGO committed to lifelong learning and making education accessible to all.

What kind of books can you offer?

You can either offer books of your own which are in good condition or purchase new ones.  These may be Greek or foreign language books, as well as books in Braille. They should be suitable for children in kindergarten or at primary school level.  We do not accept encyclopedias, books with hand-written notes in them, school books and books featuring cartoon heroes.

Why do you organize the bookwave?

To foster the love of reading in children, to help them acquire reading habits and become better readers.  Our desire is for children to have optimal access to books by enriching the libraries of schools and other institutions. Books will come to life in the hands of children who will discover them over and over again in their natural surroundings.

What are our causes?

  • We help schools and institutions create a library or grow their existing collection of books and educational resources.
  • We help schools and institutions such as orphanages, half-way houses, homes for handicapped children or the blind, associations that take care of people with low or no income visit museums, art galleries, archaeological sites etc.
  • We organize boowave, an original nonprofit book drive that is held at the Benaki Museum once a year in partnership with the Benaki Museum and under the auspices of the Bodossaki Foundation. Its aim is to collect books for the libraries of kindergartens and primary schools across the country.

How can you support us?

  • You can organize your own book drive at your school, at your business. The books have to be in Greek or other languages, new or gently used. They should be suitable for children in kindergarten or at primary school level. We do not accept encyclopedias, books with hand-written notes in them, school books and books featuring cartoon heroes.
