Shall we go to the library? Book discussion at school – Pedion tou Areos – September 14, 2025
As part of the 53rd Book Festival organized by the Book Publishers Association at Pedion tou Areos, a discussion titled “Shall we go to the library?” took place on the main stage on Sunday, September 14. The literary book in school and the value of school libraries”, organized by Greek IBBY – Children’s Book Circle and Library4all.
Speakers included Dr. Chrysa Kouraki, Vice President of the Greek Section of IBBY, and Ms. Eleni Geroulanou, President of Library4all, who discussed the importance of the existence and operation of school libraries, cultivating a reading culture in schools, best practices to enhance the joy of reading, book selection suggestions, and other issues concerning the role of books in school life.
Special thanks to illustrator Achilleas Razi, who kept the “minutes” of the discussion, turning words into images on a large canvas, a city full of books. In a school, in a library full of books.
During the event, interventions were made by members of the Greek Children’s Book Circle, educators, authors, and publishers, enriching the discussion with experiences and ideas from the educational and publishing reality.
