Every year we organise Bookwave, an original book collection campaign, which takes place at the Benaki Museum (Pireos Street Building) in Athens. For one week we collect books from schools, publishers, institutions, companies and individuals for the libraries of public kindergartens and primary schools all over the country.
Our aim is to cover the needs of as many schools as possible in a short period of time. Students of schools, who have organized their own book drives with our encouragement, offer books, thus learning about the value of giving and volunteering and at the same time the same books go to schools in need.
In the framework of Bookwave we host inspiring workshops and seminars familiarizing teachers with the basic principles of librarianship and guiding them on how to organize their school library and how to use books according to the curriculum.
