The Culture Department of the Municipality of Piraeus and INTERSECTON: Global Educational Research & Action Network for a World on the Move, in collaboration with the Postgraduate Program “Identity, Education, and Competencies for Democratic Culture” of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, the European Wergeland Centre and Library4all, invite you to participate in the international conference entitled: “Educating global active citizens in a constantly evolving world” to be held on May 17-18, 2025 in Piraeus.
PURPOSE OF THE CONFERENCE
The conference hosts renowned and distinguished international speakers from different scientific fields who will present contemporary educational approaches, innovative strategies, and applied teaching practices related to active citizenship, education for sustainable development, global competencies, and children’s rights, aiming to contribute creative ideas to the formation of a peaceful, just, and sustainable world. The conference is aimed at educators of all levels and specialties, education executives, and students.

●Veronica Boix Mansilla, Professor at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education. Head of Project Zero. Education Advisor on active citizenship and global competencies for organizations such as the OECD, UNESCO, AFS, National Geographic, the International Baccalaureate, and the Smithsonian Institute.
●Angela Salmon, Professor at Florida International University. Fulbright International Scholar. Collaborator with Project Zero at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education.
●Urszula Markowska Manista, Professor at the University of Warsaw. Head of Education for Children’s Rights in Poland. Collaborator with UNICEF.
●Maria Adelaida Lopez, Multidisciplinary Artist, Sculptor, International Education Consultant. Head of Reggio Emilia pedagogy in Colombia. Winner of the International Lego Award for education through play.
